Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the Kashmir region during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these mirrors gained popularity through the Anglo-Indian export trade. Craftsmen combined traditional Indian metalworking techniques, such as brass inlay (tarkashi) and pierced latticework (jali), with western functional forms to suit colonial tastes.

These pieces were primarily crafted from native hardwoods like Indian rosewood, teak, or walnut. Frame details featured hand-cut brass wire or sheet inlay set into carved channels, alongside pierced wood lattice panels and silvered plate glass.

Authentic items feature hand-cut brass inlays that show minor variation rather than machine perfection. Look for natural oxidisation across the metal components, hand-saw marks within the jali lattice work, and aged timber backboards fixed with historic fasteners.

Position the mirror centrally above a console table or mantelpiece to create an engaging focal point. The rich wood tone and reflective brass accents integrate well with contemporary neutral interiors or dark, dramatic paint schemes.

Dust the lattice work and carved frame using a dry, soft-bristled brush to reach recessed areas. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or brass polishes, as liquid compounds can loosen the embedded metal wire or damage the surrounding timber finish.
