Description

A fabulous early 17th century Italian cassone constructed from cypress wood and decorated with an exstensive array of different poker work hunting scenes, musicians, angels and soldiers. The chest has an amazing rich patina and the majority of the poker work is still intact, both inside and out. The chest retains its original lock and is in excellent condition, showing some old repairs commensurate with age.
