1770 “Marriage” Clock - Georgian Mahogany Longcase

Description

This Beautiful Flame Mahogany Grandfather Longcase Clock would seem to Celebrate the Marriage of John & Ann Wells in 1770.

The Clock is by W. Wilson of Kendal.

William Wilson was born at Ulverstone (Lancs) and was Apprenticed to William Burton of Kendal from where he worked between 1759 and 1780. It is though he died in 1781.

Crafted by a Renowned Local Clockmaker, At 228cm or 89.75in High and Made from Expensive Flame Mahogany with Hand Made Decorative Paterae This Case and Movement with its Gilt Brass Spandrells, This would have been an expensive gift and A True Statement of Love.

The case is Good Sound & Solid and is adjourned with Hand made Paterae & String Inlay. The Good Gilded Brass Dial with Silvered Chapter Ring , Marriage Plaque, Faux Date Window & Highly Rare & Desirable Spandrel Design.

The 8 Day Movement has been Checked, Serviced & Tested - Offered in Good Working Order.
