The underglaze blue crowned monogram is placed on the side of the base, as typical for Schwarzburger Werkstätten. The sculptor’s raised signature H. Meisel is also present on the side, confirming authenticity.
A blue cartouche with three golden stars is featured on the base—a decorative motif derived from the historic coat of arms of the Schwarzburg principality, where the Volkstedt manufactory was located. This emblem was typically reserved for large and prestigious sculptural groups, serving as a mark of the manufactory’s “luxury line” or “collector’s edition,” and underscoring the aristocratic heritage and artistic status of the piece
Condition: Excellent antique condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations. Minor darkening to the back of the page boy’s coat, likely from professional retouching, not visible from the front. No repairs to hands or faces.
