The interior silk is in good condition commensurate with use and age.
Overall a fabulous piece in very good original condition.
There is a hand written note that we found in the box. It is difficult to read but it goes like this:
Workbox - tortoiseshell and buhl belonged to my grandmother Mrs Watkins......Rectory
London,. It became mine November 1889, Sara M Stubbs."
The dates lead us to believe that the box could be 1830-1840.
