This a fine quality early 19th-century Regency period mahogany washstand. This charming table features a rectangular top with a shaped, three-quarter gallery and finely reeded edge above a central shallow drawer flanked by two deep drawers raised on beautifully carved spiral-twist and ring turned legs. A refined and practical table of elegant proportions and rich colour. We have a matched large chest of drawers available.
Provenance: The Groves of Castle Grove, Donegal, by descent to Commander Peter Campbell.

CONDITION
The central drawer is misshapen (rhomboid, rather than rectangular, in plan view), probably caused by age-related shrinkage of one side more than the other, meaning that it does not quite sit flush. There are minor losses to the cockbeading of the drawers. The joints are sound and the table has an attractive patina and good colour. Overall in very attractive and usable condition.
