Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A glass dump is a heavy decorative glass object manufactured in Victorian glassworks at the end of a shift using molten bottle glass that would otherwise be discarded. These pieces were formed into doorstops or paperweights, frequently enclosing internal bubble decoration.

Glassmakers gathered molten green glass on a pontil iron and introduced precise pricks using metal tools to trap air inside. Subsequent layers of molten glass were gathered over the top, encapsulating the trapped air pockets to form layered floral or geometric designs.

Authentic Victorian examples feature a pontil scar or a polished concave pontil impression on the flat base. They are characteristically heavy for their scale, constructed from dark green bottle glass, and contain minor internal impurities typical of period manufacturing.

Position the piece on a desk, sideboard, or deep window sill where natural light can pass through the green glass body. Arranging it alongside brass desk accessories or dark timber shelving highlights the deep green colour and internal air bubble motifs.

Clean the glass exterior using a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with warm water and mild liquid soap. Avoid abrasive cleaning pads, harsh chemical solvent sprays, or sudden temperature shifts that could induce stress fractures within the glass structure.
