Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating as ceramic storage vessels in China, ginger jars were historically used to store spices such as ginger. In later centuries, particularly during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, many were converted or crafted into table lamp bases for Western interiors.

These lamps are typically constructed from high-fired porcelain or earthenware decorated with cobalt blue underglaze motifs. The electrical components feature brass fittings and mounting plates, supported by a turned wooden base.

Authentic pieces feature hand-painted underglaze cobalt motifs showing subtle variations in brushwork and tone rather than uniform printed transfer designs. Age is also indicated by foot rim wear, hand-thrown pottery lines, and minor glaze firing marks.

A ginger jar lamp functions as an accent on a sideboard, console table, or bedside nightstand when paired with a neutral silk or linen shade. It balances dark timber furniture as well as minimalist contemporary settings.

Clean the ceramic surface regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemical cleansers or excess water near the electrical wiring and brass mountings.
