Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ardabil rugs originate from the city of Ardabil and surrounding villages in north-western Iran. These hand-knotted wool carpets often feature geometric designs, central medallions, and styling influenced by neighbouring Caucasian weaving traditions.

Traditional Ardabil village rugs are woven with a hand-spun wool pile anchored onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. Dyes historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources to produce muted blues, ivory, and earth tones.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted construction with distinct variations in tension and knot symmetry on the reverse side. They feature geometric rather than floral motifs, structured medallion arrangements, and natural colour abrash shade variations throughout the pile.

A geometric village rug adds texture and historical warmth to contemporary spaces. Position the piece beneath modern minimalist furniture, or layer over natural sisal carpeting to ground a dining area, study, or living room.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating beater bar to protect the wool fibers and fringe ends. Rotate the rug annually to balance sun exposure and tread wear, and arrange for specialist professional rug cleaning when required.
