Outstanding Quality Victorian Walnut Writing Box

An outstanding quality mid Victorian figured walnut writing slope with brass trimmed exterior and superb fitted interior c.1875. The figured walnut exterior with sloping front section and domed top cover to the pen and in compartment to the back. Superb quality engraved brass decorative overlays to the top and sides, matching lock escutcheon. The front section opening and folding over to form a writing surface with black leather surface and coromandel bound veneered edges. The rear of the surface opening to reveal a satinwood lined storage compartment. The domed top rear section opening to access the pen and ink section with two removable leather and engraved brass cased ink wells, pen section and two lidded compartments; original silk lined interior to the lid. Engraved gilded hinges, lock plate and catches. Presented in immaculate condition with a superb rich colour and deep polish throughout. Keep up to date via Instagram - sturmansantiques.
