We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Brooches from this era frequently featured detailed silver metalwork combined with hand-painted vitreous enamel detailing. Floral patterns, heraldic emblems, and buckle motifs were highly fashionable decorative elements during the mid-to-late Victorian period.

These brooches were constructed using sterling or high-grade silver, decorated with glass-based vitreous enamel fired onto the metallic surface. Fastenings typically included hand-formed silver pins with long hinges and simple C-clasps.

Authentic pieces generally display period-correct pin fastenings that extend beyond the edge of the brooch, simple C-clasps, tube hinges, and signs of hand-painted enamel work rather than modern mass-printed transfers.

While traditionally worn on coat lapels, collars, or scarves, antique brooches are frequently styled as decorative objects by mounting them in velvet-lined shadow boxes or antique display frames within modern interiors.

Clean gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding chemical dips or abrasive cleaners that could damage delicate enamelwork or remove natural silver patination. Store in a dry, padded box away from moisture and direct sunlight.
