Sturmans Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The case has two sections. The larger section with hinged lid forming a vesta case with match striker to the inside of the lid and gilt lined interior. The smaller side with hole in the side for placing the cheroot in to be trimmed. The lid lifting to expose a blade with cutting edge set over the side hole; the cuttings being retained in the internal compartment. Bears the makers mark for London silversmith Thomas Johnson along with clear hallmarks to all sections. Presented in immaculate unused condition with a deep shine. Measures 2" long x 1" wide x 0.25" deep.
