Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A nest of tables consists of a set of graduated accent tables designed to slide neatly underneath one another to conserve floor space. First introduced in the late eighteenth century by cabinetmakers such as Thomas Sheraton, they gained widespread popularity throughout the Regency and Victorian eras as flexible tea and occasional tables.

Traditional sets are typically crafted from solid mahogany, rosewood, or walnut, often featuring cross-banded veneers, stringing, or turned supports. The leg supports are frequently reinforced with curved stretchers at the rear to maintain structural rigidity while allowing smaller tables to slide inside smoothly.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut joinery, natural timber shrinkage across table tops, and subtle variations in hand-worked details across the set. Look for wear patterns along the inner runners where the smaller tables slide, along with original patination underneath the frames.

Position the nested set alongside an armchair or sofa to provide adaptable surface space that can be expanded when entertaining. The deep tone of mahogany contrasts against modern neutral upholstery, painted walls, or contemporary linen textures.

Dust regularly using a soft microfibre cloth following the grain of the wood. Apply a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to protect the timber, avoiding silicone aerosol sprays and placing the furniture away from direct heat sources or damp environments.
