French antique (19thC) iron/brass model of a Gribeauval field gun model with an iron body and bronze barrel. Ca 20cm long x 9.5cm wide x 10cm high, weight 800g.
 
Good condition.
 
The Gribeauval system was an artillery system introduced by Lieutenant-General Jean Baptiste Vaquette de Gribeauval during the 18th century. This system revolutionized French cannons, with a new production system that allowed lighter, more uniform guns without sacrificing range. With the advent of the Gribeauval system the French enjoyed the best artillery in Europe.
