Description

This magnificent 'namakdan or salt-bag was woven by the tribes of the Khalaj region, near Saveh, during the early 20th century. The construction of the bag is warp-faced alternating-float-weave and further decorated with tufts of wool on the face. Antique bags woven by the Khalaj are relatively rare these days.
