Description

This charming silhouette shows a well-dressed lady in a mob cap trimmed with ribbon seated reading the latest novel on an ebonised chair by a small tripod table. The silhouette is cut out with finely gilded detailing. The background has been sketched in pencil. Circa 1830.

Bird's eye maple veneer frame with a gilded slip.

There is slight background browning, most visible around the table top and a bruise to the paper to the rear side of her skirt - see image for details.
