Small Charming Oak With Handmade Marquetry Inlaid Decoration Longcase Clock Circa 1875

ONLY 6ft (72in) or 183cm High

Base Width 45.5cm

Base Depth 25.5cm

William Gill of Hastings was born in 1749 and was apprenticed to Thomas Harben of Lewes Sussex. From 1774 till his death in 1831 he worked at the High Street Hastings (Sussex).

He was also one of the Founders of the Hastings Bank about 1790 and so one could surmise that he was a pillar of the community of Important Standing.

The 30 Hour Movement and finely engraved Brass Dial with Silvered Chapter Ring and Phoenix Spandrells has been Checked, Serviced & Tested to be in Good Working Order.
