Description

A late 19thC pair of French brass candlesticks c1880. The candlesticks are cast in quite heavy brass, a mark of quality, on square bases with lions paw feet. They are ornately decorated with fleur de lys, acanthus leaves, shells, and fluting, rising to fixed sconces and drip pans. A delightful and rare detail is the sun ray designs beneath the drip pans. The pair are rather magnificent in their way. They have been professionally repolished to show the detail and are in very good condition for their age.
