Chinese Carved Elm Chair

19th century
Description

A late 19th century Chinese chair which is heavily and intricately carved from elm wood.

The carvings depict deity, dragons and Chinese script. Interestingly, the back of the chair is as extravagantly carved as the front and looks interesting from every angle.

The arms have open mouthed dragons with horns. It is heavy and very substantial with an allover rich patina.

A good statement and decorating piece. Circa 1890.
