Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian inlaid mahogany furniture is defined by its return to lighter 18th-century classical proportions, influenced by Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs. Pieces frequently feature satinwood or boxwood stringing, crossbanding, flame mahogany veneers, and delicate brass hardware.

High-end Edwardian desks were constructed using solid mahogany framing faced with decorative mahogany veneers. The writing surfaces were inset with gilded or blind-tooled leather, while drawer linings were typically made from oak or ash with brass handles and castors.

Authentic Maple & Co. furniture often features a makers stamp or brass plaque on the upper drawer edge or lock plate. Additional indicators include precise dovetail joinery, smooth drawer runners, solid drawer bottoms, and high-specification brassware.

An antique mahogany desk can be modernised by pairing it with a contemporary desk chair, clean-lined task lighting, and modern artwork. Contrast the dark wood tones against neutral or contemporary wall palettes to create a balanced work space.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft cloth and apply a beeswax polish along the grain annually. Clean the leather surface using a damp cloth and treat it with dedicated leather conditioner to prevent drying or cracking, avoiding direct sunlight and radiators.
