Description

A George III mahogany Serpentine Chest Of Drawers, of lovely small proportions and raised on bracket feet with four long, graduated drawers with brass handles and escutcheons (later replacements). The chest has stop fluted canted corners and has a decorative top consisting of a large mahogany oval bordered with a tulip-wood banding and a molded edge. In good restored condition. 870mm high, 870mm wide and 580mm deep. English. Circa 1790.

This form was popularised by cabinetmakers such as Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite, combining classical proportions with functional storage.
