Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Louis XV style mantel clocks are characterized by Rococo design elements, including asymmetrical curves, scrolling foliage, acanthus leaf motifs, and elaborate gilt bronze mounts often paired with inlaid tortoiseshell or kingwood cases.

These clocks typically combine natural tortoiseshell or simulated shell veneers with cast gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts, brass clockwork movements, and hand-enamelled white dials.

Authentic pieces feature heavy, hand-chased mercury gilding on bronze mounts, hand-painted or individual enamel dial cartouches, historical maker signatures on the movement plates, and evidence of hand-carved joinery within the case.

An ornate clock serves as a focal point when positioned on a minimalist fireplace mantelpiece, marble console table, or anchored within a modern bookshelf display alongside muted ceramics.

Keep the clock away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the tortoiseshell from drying out or buckling; gently dust gilt bronze mounts with a soft dry brush, avoiding liquid polishes or chemical cleaners.
