Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 20th-century occasional tables often feature refined geometric parquetry or marquetry top designs, utilising contrasting wood veneers. These pieces typically exhibit slender, swept legs and compact geometric forms suitable for versatile placement within living areas.

Craftsmen frequently used solid birch for the structural frame due to its fine grain and strength, while applying contrasting timber veneers to construct geometric starburst or chevron patterns on the tabletop.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut veneer joinery with minor natural variations in grain direction and light surface oxidation consistent with age. Inspection beneath the tabletop often reveals traditional construction methods such as pegged or mortise-and-tenon joints.

Place the table beside an armchair or sofa to act as a functional accent for drinks or lighting. The neutral tones of natural birch harmonise well with minimalist, contemporary, or classic decor schemes.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the grain. Avoid direct sunlight and moisture exposure to prevent the wood veneers from lifting or drying out.
