A very fine example, the birds modelled exquisitely and mounted within their original, large flat sided glass dome sitting on an ebonised base. Unlabelled, but very much in the manner of Shaw the noted taxidermist from Shrewsbury who operated between (1812-87).

Domes or shades, as they are often referred to in old catalogues, came in various forms (oval, round or square) the square or flat sided format was the most expensive of its type, and today being the most desirable. The particular example we are selling here being of a remarkable size.
