Antique Sterling Silver Curb Link Albert Watch Chain Necklace With T-bar, Football Medal, And Dog Clips – 15.5"

£345    $470    €410
This heavy Albert Chain features graduated curb links, a T-bar, a Football medal, and a double dog clip fastening. It measures a wearable length of 15.5'' and is modelled in sterling silver.

This chain is hallmarked with the Lion mark on every link. It weighs an impressive 56.7 grams and dates to Birmingham, 1912.

The chain also features a medal pendant that was later added and is dated to Birmingham, 1926. This is also engraved '' L.D 26-27''.

An Albert chain is a decorative chain initially used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer''s clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach a pocket watch or fob, and the T-Bar would go through the buttonhole of a waistcoat to secure it in place.

Today, these are worn as necklaces, and the clips can be used to hang pendants or charms.

This is a quality example of an Albert chain, which would make a great addition to any collection.
