Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency period furniture, dating from roughly 1811 to 1830, is characterized by classical proportions, exotic timber veneers, and architectural detailing. Designers during this era drew inspiration from Greek, Roman, and Egyptian forms, resulting in structured silhouettes and decorative turnings.

Craftsmen predominantly utilized figured rosewood and mahogany veneers over solid pine or oak frames. Tops were often inset with gold-tooled leather, while structural elements included brass hardware and hand-turned wooden supports.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original brass castors or fittings, and natural hand-turned details such as barley twist or reeded legs. Secondary drawer timbers typically show natural oxidation consistent with two centuries of age.

A compact Regency table functions effectively as an accent piece beside an armchair, within a reading nook, or as a hall table. The dark wood tone balances contemporary upholstery and neutral wall colours.

Position the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber movement and leather drying. Apply a quality beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, and clean the leather surface with a dry microfibre cloth.
