Description

A delightful pair of Victorian Aesthetic Movement low candlesticks c1870. The candlesticks stand on square bases with a fluted stem rising to cylindrical sconces. The base is decorated around the edges with an intricate part geometric and part floral design in copper, against a stippled background. Each corner is adorned with a copper band, topped by a brass half sphere and a very delicate lattice band. The sconces repeat the theme with a larger geometric copper design over the stippled background. The candlesticks are quite heavy and sturdy for their height, suggested the stem is solid brass. In excellent condition, unusual and a disply of skilled craftsmanship.
