Brangwyn was born in Belgium to Welsh parents but was brought up in London. He learnt to draw, and paint from his father as well as the Art and Crafts practitioner Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo. He also spent time at the workshops of William Morris. A member of the Royal Academy and Royal Academy of British Artists amongst others, he was one of Britain’s most prominent artists prior to the First World War.
Brangwyn was incredibly prolific, in his lifetime he produced works in an array of different mediums, adopting techniques ranging from wood engravings, etching, engravings and lithographs, as well as painting over a thousand works in oil, and designing anything from furniture to stain glass windows, showing the influence of his art and crafts education. His lithographs are scarcer than his engravings and this is a large example.
The lithograph is in great overall condition, with only one large foxing dots which should be visible from the images posted, there is small bubble in the paper near the signature. The picture is well frame and ready to hang.
