Rare Georgian Silver and Mother of Pearl Cased Fruit Fork & Fruit Knife, Circa 1795

Description

This is a delightful and rare Georgian silver folding silver fruit fork & fruit knife fitted in a Georgian red leather case. Both knife and fork with engraved mother of pearl handles inset with tiny silver buttons and boasting reeded silver ferrules. Each engraved blade partially hallmarked; ie no maker's mark or date letter, which was very often the case with fruit knives and forks. They are not a pair as such but fit beautiful in their tactile red leather sheath. A rare occurrence. All in very good condition.

Hallmarks:

Duty Mark (George III)

Lion Passant.

Dimensions:

Fork: 14 cm / 5.4 inches open.

7.5cm / 3 inches closed.

Knife: 13cm / 5.1 inches open.

Condition:

Very good condition.

No damage to the mother of pearl.

Dual folding spring mechanism in very good working order on the fork and good order of the knife..

Good clear hallmarks.

Red leather case in very good order.
