Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency period dressing tables, typically dating from the early 19th century, are defined by clean lines, classical proportions, and functional elegance. They frequently feature mahogany timber construction, high gallery backs or sides to contain items, and slender tapered legs.

Regency furniture makers favoured imported Cuban and West Indian mahogany due to its dense grain, stability, and deep colouration. Secondary timber such as pine or oak was commonly used for drawer linings, complemented by hand-turned brass knobs or brass handles.

Authentic Regency tables show evidence of hand-carved joinery, such as hand-cut dovetail joints in drawer construction. Look for original brass hardware, natural oxidisation on the underside of timber, and subtle wood shrinkage typical of two-century-old craftsmanship.

A Regency dressing table functions versatilely in modern interiors as a compact writing desk in a home office, an entry hall console table, or a bedroom vanity. Pairing dark mahogany timber with contemporary ceramics, minimal table lamps, or neutral wall tones creates a balanced aesthetic contrast.

Maintain antique mahogany by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and moisture to prevent fading or warping.
