Regency Mahogany Dressing Table

19th century
Description

A Regency period mahogany bow fronted dressing, side table with three drawers. The front has a well shaped and generously sized kneehole, making the table very comfortable to sit at. The top and front are inlaid and highlighted with both shaped and geometric satinwood and ebony string inlay. The corners of the table are castellated above the four finely turned legs. The table has all its original colour and is in excellent condition throughout. The brass handles have been replaced at a later date. Sizes: 39”(99cms) wide, 21”(54cms) deep, 31 ¾ “(81cms) high. Date circa 1810.

Regency furniture refers to British design produced between roughly 1811 and 1830, influenced by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian forms. Pieces typically exhibit clean lines, fine wood veneers such as mahogany or rosewood, brass mounts, and subtle decorative elements like reeding or stringing inlay.
