Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late eighteenth century and attributed to furniture maker Thomas Sheraton, nests of tables were originally called quartetto tables when made in sets of four. Designed as space-saving furniture for drawing rooms, they provided readily accessible surfaces for tea, needlework, and games during social gatherings.

Traditional quartetto tables were primarily crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or satinwood. Construction featured slim turned or reeded legs connected by delicate stretchers, often with a subtle concave curve at the rear to accommodate the nesting process.

Authentic period pieces exhibit precise hand-cut joinery, subtle variations in wood grain across each graduated piece, and natural wear along the underside runners where the tables slide together. Later reproductions often feature uniform machine cuts and synthetic surface finishes.

A nest of tables works exceptionally well placed alongside a armchair or sofa, offering modular flexibility. The individual tables can be distributed throughout a room when entertaining to hold drinks or books, then nested neatly together to maintain an uncluttered layout.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain. Keep the tables away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish discolouration.
