Originating between 1830 and 1837, William IV mirrors bridge the transition between classical Regency symmetry and heavier Victorian proportions. They typically feature bold profiles, reeded moulding, crossed ribbon details, and water-gilded finishes.

Mirrors from this era were constructed with carved pine or lime wood bases coated in layers of gesso. The surface was finished using water gilding or oil gilding with thin gold leaf, framing mercury-backed or silvered glass plates.
