Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The scroll wheel is placed in contact with the curved line to be measured and run along its length, whilst the two dials give accurate readings in various helpful measurements. Fitted with an attaching ball and loop to the top for a fob chain or chatelaine and rarely found in hallmarked silver it would make a superb and interesting collector's piece with a practical use. Condition :- Very good, with no dents or splits to the silver. Slight staining to the dial on one side at the top, both dials clear and readable. One face has a crack to the glass, which does not affect use and is commensurate with age and use.
Hallmarks :- Clear and readable.
Maker :- John Henry Hill (1917-26).
Date :- London C1920.
