This is a wonderful example of a solid sterling silver tea set, dating from the reign of Queen Victoria.
All parts carry corresponding hallmarks for Edinburgh 1867 with the maker''s mark of Mackay Cunningham & Co, who were only in partnership for 5 years. All pieces also have corresponding No 73 on base, indicating that they are an original set.
The silver is beautifully decorated. There are empty cartouches on both sides of each piece. The silver and internal gilding are in excellent condition, no dents or tears. There are surface scratches, but certainly no more than could be expected for items over 150 years old. The ivory insulators on the tea pot handle are covered for sale under certification numbered F3JM44QV.
