An Exceptionally Rare And Untouched 18th Century, Georgian Mahogany, Miniature, Or Childs Size, Chest On Chest, Or Tallboy, Having Elegant Blind Fretwork Carved Decoration To Top, Over Three Short And Six Long Drawers, Retaining Original Brass Turned Knobs, Raised On Elegant Original Ogee Shaped Bracket Feet, Retaining Exceptional Colour And Patina Throughout.
This is a wonderfully rare collectors item, as well as being a very functional and wonderful piece of original antique 18th century furniture.
As you will notice from the description we are unsure whether to describe as a piece of childs furniture, or a piece of miniature furniture, as frankly the scale which it is on is almost exactly between the norm for each. Most likely is that it was made as a simple one off commission piece, perhaps to match a full size variant already made and sit in the same room.
One thing we are certain of however is how rare it is and what fantastic condition it remains in. Its very, very difficult to find items like this and especially ones that remain in such good untouched condition. It retains a wonderful rich colour and surface and would be an absolute delight in any spot it is positioned.
Both the brass handles and the ogee feet are original and there is very little historic restoration to speak of, just a few old small repairs here and there which have been sympathetically carried out historically.
As with all items we offer for sale this antique miniature chest on chest has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, specialist trained, antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale to ensure that it is in excellent condition and ready for immediate placement within the home.
