During the Georgian era, blanket chests and mule chests served as essential household storage units for linens, bedding, and clothing prior to the widespread adoption of fitted wardrobes. Chests fitted with drawers at the base offered compartmentalised storage for smaller textiles alongside the primary top chest compartment.
