Imari porcelain originated in the Arita region of Japan and was exported through the port of Imari, gaining prominence from the seventeenth century onwards for its distinct blue and red pattern work.

Traditional Imari ceramics are formed from white porcelain clay, decorated with underglaze cobalt blue before firing, and finished with overglaze iron-red enamels and gilt detailing.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit detailed hand-painted panel artwork, cobalt blue underglaze paired with iron-red enamels, and subtle surface variations from manual production.
