This very interesting and decorative silver box was made in Siam now Thailand circa 1920. It is made from solid high grade silver (tested) and is beautifully decorated with niello work which is a combination of hand engraved decoration filled with black enamel which when polished leaves a silver silhouetted design. In this example of people and foliage within a decorative boarder which is continuous around all four sides. The top has an intricate and detailed landscape view of a city or town with temples, buildings and trees set behind a lake or river.
