Description

A beautiful French Louis XIV style boulle red coloured tortoise shell and engraved brass inlaid antique mantel or table clock from the Victorian period. The case is inlaid with scrolling and entwined leaf design throughout and is adorned with very good quality bronze gilt scrolling mounts with female mask to the front. The case has a viewing window which showcases the clocks sunburst pendulum and the sides have framed decorative fretted panels.

The clock has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and a French eight day duration movement which strikes the hours and half hour on a bell with outside count wheel.

The movement back plate is stamped with the makers name -
