Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco Moderne furniture from the 1930s is characterised by streamlined geometric shapes, curved edges, and smooth horizontal or vertical lines. The movement emphasised architectural forms, functional simplicity, and the use of rich wood veneers.

Craftsmen typically utilised high-grade cabinet timbers including walnut, mahogany, oak, and rosewood veneers, often arranged in matched grain patterns. Secondary structural elements sometimes incorporated solid fruitwoods or stained hardwoods resting on plinth bases.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, natural timber oxidisation, hand-applied veneers, and solid structural weight consistent with early 20th-century manufacture. Inspection of the undersides and internal construction often reveals hand-cut screws or period alignment marks.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway foyer, bay window, or sitting room alcove. The lower tiers provide functional storage for art books, while the top surface accommodates sculptural ceramics or glass vases to balance the geometric timber structure.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the direction of the wood grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent veneer movement and colour fading.
