Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An octagonal Regency wall clock is an early 19th-century English timepiece featuring an eight-sided wooden case surrounding a round dial. These timepieces often showcase decorative brass inlay within rich timber veneers such as rosewood or mahogany.

These clocks were constructed using high-quality cabinetry timber including rosewood, mahogany, and walnut, complemented by hand-cut brass inlay, cast brass bezels, glass convex covers, and painted enamel or metal dials.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-engraved or painted maker details with street addresses on the dial, hand-cut brass scroll inlay flush with the timber veneer, and mechanical fusee movements housed inside heavy timber cases.

Position the clock as a focal point on a narrow wall space, above a mantelpiece, or in an entryway hallway. The dark timber tone and brass detail balance well against modern neutral wall paint and contemporary joinery.

Keep the clock away from direct heat sources and damp environments to prevent timber warping and veneer movement. The movement should be professionally cleaned and lubricated by a qualified horologist every five to seven years.
