Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating between 1830 and 1837, marks the transition between classical Regency symmetry and heavier Victorian ornamentation. Pieces typically feature robust proportions, bold scrollwork, turned columns, and rich mahogany construction.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak and pine sub-frames. Hinges were typically cast iron or brass, while supporting fly-brackets operated on timber pivot points.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on any structural drawers, original brass or iron rule-joint hinges beneath the leaves, and authentic hand-carved detailing on the pedestal base and feet. Natural wood patination and shrinkage marks on solid timber surfaces also indicate historical age.

A drop-leaf centre table works as a versatile focal point in an entryway, positioned behind a sofa, or used as a compact dining table. Folding down the leaves allows the piece to fit neatly against walls or in smaller reception rooms.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying beeswax every few months to nourish the wood. Protect the surface from direct sunlight, standing water, and heat sources to prevent cracking or timber movement.
