Fully Restored Antique William IV Circa 1830 4-12 Person Extending Dining Table

19th century
Description

Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this sublime fully restored circa 1830 William IV Flamed Mahogany extending dining table

Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price

A very rare and highly collectable table, this has been fully restored to include a wash back and French polish from the ground up, the table will also have the top removed and 100% aligned prior to dispatch, I will also order a new suite of solid brass extension leave clips which fit under the table tops once extended, these further secure the leaves in place

This table in the any light is glorious, in good lighting it is a thing of beauty, the grain and colour it emulates is exquisite, if this was in my home I wouldn't even rest a centre piece on it, I would simply admire the timber

Condition wise, as mentioned the piece has been washed back and traditionally French polished, it will still have of course the original patina to the base, the top however is perfect to my eyes and hands

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV dining tables, dating from the 1830s, bridge the transition between late Regency and early Victorian design, characterised by substantial proportions, rich hardwoods, and classical turned or fluted legs.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or rosewood, incorporating brass castors and hand-cut wooden extension mechanisms to support additional leaves.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-turned legs with characteristic bulbous or lotus carvings, original brass wheel castors, and period mechanical runners beneath the table top.

Pair the deep mahogany timber tones with contemporary upholstered dining chairs or minimalist architectural lighting to create a balanced contrast between heritage furniture and modern design.

Dust regularly with a soft microfiber cloth, apply natural beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, and protect the finish from heat and moisture using table runners or mats.
