Very interesting estate made William and Mary walnut bureau cabinet. Coming in two parts, the top has three drawers over a fall front behind which is a series of drawers. Beneath the fall front are two further drawers and another fall which rests on pull out lopers, behind which is a fitted interior. Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Developed during the late 17th century in Britain, the William and Mary style is characterised by Dutch and French baroque influences, featuring fine walnut veneers, marquetry inlay, turned legs, and arched stretchers.

Primary woods typically include figured walnut or burr walnut veneers laid over oak or pine carcasses, secured with brass tear-drop handles and engraved escutcheons.

Look for construction details such as hand-cut dovetailed joints, hand-planed back panels, original brass drop handles with teardrop pulls, and period-correct oak drawer linings.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway, library, or living room, pairing its dark walnut patina with neutral wall shades and contemporary art.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth, and apply high-grade beeswax polish periodically to preserve the patina.
