Description

This is a fine example of a small English oak longcase clock with bevel glass to the trunk door. Attractive Graining and Patina to the Oak, all raised on Bracket Feet.

Height 76.75in (6ft 4.75in) or 195cm

Hood width 42.5cm depth 25.3cm

Base width 41cm depth 27cm

So, on the cusp of being a Grandmother (under 6ft 4in) and a Grandfather Clock.

The 8 Day Movement is by the renowned German Clockmaker Peerless and play Westminster Musical Chimes on its equally fine and Mellow Embee Gongs. The Brass Dial with Silvered Chapter Ring is topped off with Dolphins and Cherubs in the 4 Corner Spandral.

Circa 1920s/30s when the parts were made of sturdy brass for long term accuracy and working.
