Neoclassical examples are characterised by architectural symmetry, fluted tapered legs, guilloche friezes, and motifs inspired by classical Greco-Roman antiquity.

Traditional console tables from this period were crafted with solid timber frames, often softwood or fruitwood, covered in gesso layers prior to hand painting.
