Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Genoese parcel gilt console table is a wall-supported side table originating from Genoa, Italy, produced during the Neoclassical or Empire periods. It features cream-painted timber, selective gold leaf gilding known as parcel gilt, classical relief motifs, and a marble surface top.

These tables were constructed from hand-carved timber, coated in gesso, and finished with tempera paint and burnished gold leaf. Surface tops were typically fitted with regional Italian marbles, such as dark grey Bardiglio or white Carrara.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved joinery, natural surface wear showing red bole beneath oxidized gold leaf, hand-cut secondary timber frames, and unpolished marble undersides.

Position the table flat against a hallway or foyer wall, paired with a contemporary gilt-framed mirror or framed modern artwork directly above. Keep tabletop accessories minimal to highlight the carved apron and original marble surface.

Keep the furniture in a stable, climate-controlled setting away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid wood movement and paint flaking. Clean dust gently using a dry, soft camel-hair brush, avoiding water or chemical cleaning agents on gilding.
