Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian jewellery chests are compact tabletop cabinets produced during the 19th century designed to securely store jewellery and personal accessories. They often feature multiple small drawers, hinged lids, glass-panelled doors, and plush padded interiors.

These chests were typically constructed from hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, and fitted with cast brass hardware. The interior compartments were lined with textiles like velvet, silk, or satin to protect contents from scratching.

Authentic pieces feature period construction elements such as hand-cut dovetail joints, functioning mortise locks, original brass fittings, and natural surface patina. Original interior fabrics often exhibit age-appropriate wear and traditional button-tufting.

A Victorian jewellery chest serves as a functional decorative accent atop a bedroom dressing table, a bedside table, or a hallway console. The deep wood tones and structured form add architectural texture to both traditional and contemporary settings.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish along the grain to maintain the luster. Keep the chest away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement and fabric fading.
