Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Revolving piano stools gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods as domestic music-making became a central social activity. Cabinetmakers designed these height-adjustable seats using central threaded metal spindles to allow musicians to easily customize their seating position.

High-quality period music stools were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, featuring turned legs and cross stretchers for stability. The seats were upholstered in durable fabrics like velvet or leather over heavy padding, supported by internal iron screw mechanisms.

Authentic pieces by James Shoolbred & Co. frequently feature stamped brass makers plates, impressed registration marks, or stamped serial numbers on the underside of the woodwork. The quality of the turned joinery, precise metalwork, and refined proportions also serve as key indicators of authenticity.

An antique circular stool can serve as an occasional side seat in a living room, a vanity seat in a bedroom, or a plant stand in a hall space. Its compact footprint and rich wood tones provide a grounded contrast alongside modern minimalist furnishings.

Maintain the timber structure by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax polish along the grain annually. Clean velvet upholstery gently using a soft brush, and treat the iron swivel screw with minimal machine oil if rotation stiffens.
